The Scaling Up Renewable Energy Program in Low Income Countries (SREP) is a targeted program of the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF), which is one of two funds within the framework of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF). The SREP was established to scale up the deployment of renewable energy solutions and expand renewables markets in the world’s poorest countries. SREP will also provide grant funding for capacity building and advisory services Capacity building and advisory services should be demand driven, country owned and flexible, and incorporated into the investment plan of each pilot. Such services should be tailored to SREP recipient country needs and local conditions and generally integrated into the design of investments. On an exceptional basis, capacity building and advisory services activities may also be delivered separately and funded independently from the investment activity.
