Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP)
Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP)
Details
The Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP) has been developed jointly by EIB and UNEP and is one of the planned responses to the UN Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative. REPP aims to overcome barriers for small/medium scale renewable energy (RE) projects relating to perceived risks, technologies and regulations across Sub-Saharan Africa. Furthermore, REPP will address financial market insufficiencies relating to non-availability of long term lending for “bankable” projects. The Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP) supports small to medium-sized renewable energy projects (below 25 MW) throughout sub-Saharan Africa.A wide range of renewable energy technologies are eligible for support, including wind, solar photovoltaic (PV), geothermal, waste to energy (landfill gas and thermal waste to energy), run-of-river hydropower, biomass and biogas. REPP supports both grid-connected and off-grid projects.
