The Lab is testing new ways to catalyze investment in entrepreneurs in developing countries. Their Partnering to Accelerate Entrepreneurship (PACE) program works closely with 40 incubators, accelerators, and seed-stage impact investors through 17 public-private partnerships.

Broad support to the market through the internationally-recognized quality assurance program, technical and environmental sustainability research relating to off-grid lighting, and information dissemination through technical notes, webinars and conferences.

Capacity building in the following key areas: Quality Assurance, Stakeholder Engagement, Information. Business Support, Policy Reform, Finance.

The Program is composed of four pillars:1. Finance for clean energy to incubate scalable energy financing models with 18 financial and energy service providers by providing risk capital grants and/or concessional refinancing;2. Technical assistance for clean energy to increase the scale potential of financing models by providing value-added support such as linkages to experts and new value chain partners;3. Knowledge and learning to share widely implementation know-hows and promote customer-centric growth through demand-side research;4. Advocacy and partnerships to co-create ecosystems for scale in partnership with various stakeholders such as Government, investors, and development partners.

Capacity development

Multifarious capacity building: from serving on boards to consulting on strategy, coaching executives to recruiting new talent; connecting promising investees to entrepreneurial visionaries with business know-how; leveraging the tremendous capacity of Web and mobile technologies to go beyond incremental improvement; and making a significant, widespread impact.
